Who I am
Copperwren Studio is a website design and marketing business based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, run by Aimee as a sole trader. I am the data controller for any personal information you share with me. You can contact me at hello@copperwrenstudio.co.uk.
What I collect
When you use my contact form or get in touch, I collect your name, business name if you give it, email address, phone number if you give it, the type of help you're asking about and anything you tell me about your business.
If you arrived from one of my adverts or posts, the form also sends the campaign details in that link (such as "facebook" and the campaign name), the page you landed on and the website you came from, so I know which marketing works. This is only remembered between pages if you've accepted analytics cookies.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, your device and browser, and your approximate location. It is linked to a random identifier stored in a cookie, not to your name. I've switched off Google Signals and advertising features, and I never send your name, email or message to Google Analytics. When an enquiry is sent successfully, Analytics records only that an enquiry happened and which type it was.
Like any website, my host receives technical information such as your IP address when pages load, so it can deliver the site and keep it secure.
How I use it
I use your details to reply to your enquiry, prepare your mockup and, if you become a client, to deliver and invoice my services. I rely on your request for me to take steps before entering into a contract, and on my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Analytics only runs with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. I will never sell your information or send you marketing without your permission.
Cookies and analytics
I only use Google Analytics cookies if you choose "Accept analytics" on my cookie banner. If you choose "No thanks", no analytics cookies are set. I don't use advertising cookies. Here is everything the site can store in your browser:
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_ (Google Analytics cookies) | Counts visits and how the site is used. Only set if you accept analytics. | Up to 2 years |
| cw-utm-first, cw-utm-latest | Remembers which advert or post brought you here, so it can be sent with an enquiry. Only stored if you accept analytics. | Until you clear it (first visit), or until you close the tab (latest visit) |
| cw-consent | Remembers your cookie choice, so I don't ask again. | Until you clear it |
| cw-theme | Remembers light or dark mode, if you choose one. | Until you clear it |
| cw-offer-hidden | Remembers that you closed an offer banner. | Until you clear it |
Apart from the Google Analytics cookies, these are saved in your browser's storage rather than as cookies, and never leave your device. You can change your cookie choice at any time:
Who I share it with
I only share your information with trusted services that help me run the business: my website host (Netlify), my email provider, a printing company if I order printed items for you, and, if you accept cookies, Google Analytics. They may only use it to provide their service to me. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, in which case they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long I keep it
If you don't become a client, I delete your enquiry after 12 months. Client records are kept for six years to meet tax and accounting requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see, correct or delete the information I hold about you, or object to how I use it. Email hello@copperwrenstudio.co.uk and I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
